It is no secret…
Does anyone else remember that old song, ‘It is no secret what God can do. What He’s done for others, He will do for you?’
It can be uncommonly difficult to keep a secret, especially when you know its truth, and when the sharing of such knowledge somehow elevates your status – ‘insider knowledge’, so to speak – keeping silent can become even more of a challenge. Something in our human nature just aches to sing-song (as a child will), “I know something that you don’t! 😊 Consequently, we value that special friend who hears our heart and keeps it safe.
But God’s secrets are something else entirely! I am so grateful that, according to the Word, the ‘secrets of God’, are not for those with some special insider knowledge, but are freely available to everyone who seeks His heart and they are to be shared with joy and conviction, wherever and whenever!
‘The secret [of the wise counsel] of the LORD is for those who fear Him, And He will let them know His covenant and reveal to them [through His word] its [deep, inner] meaning.’ (Psalm 25:14 AMP)
And Paul gets so excited about this:
‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.’ (1 Corinthians 2:9-12)
Our God is not inscrutable, meaning, He is not impossible to understand or interpret, but, according to Jeremiah, when we seek Him with all our heart, we absolutely WILL find Him. In fact, we become Good News bearers, living revelations of His secrets to a hurting, broken world.
And THIS is no secret! 😊
