The little ironies of life make me smile - sometimes they even make me laugh out loud.

BB and I enjoy birds and were delighted to discover that hummingbirds frequent central Florida at certain times of the year. So, we did what everyone does. We placed a feeder in our garden, hoping to tempt these little gems to where we could observe them from our easy chairs on the lanai, mostly at the end of the day.

This year we replanted the flowerbox outside the kitchen with butterfly-friendly plants. Unexpectedly, almost every time I stand at my sink (many times a day), I see the hummingbirds hovering from flower to flower in an ecstasy of feeding. So many flowers – so little time, and who knew such a tiny bird could be so aggressive! MY flowers MY flowers only... 😊

How much richer is nature than the pretense!

I love the verse "In Him we live and move and have our being." Because I am in Him I don’t need to set up an appointment, or even go to a special place, but He surprises me with the sweet sense of his presence and glimpses of his beauty in the humdrum of my life, often when I  least expect it. All I need are "Eyes to see and ears to hear..."

I find myself murmuring that lovely old song again:

I come to the garden alone...

And he walks with me and he talks with me

And he tells me I am his own

And the joy we share as we tarry there

None other has ever known
