ADVENT

You came to earth -

Helpless as I once was -

Clinging to Your mother's breast

Fed on generous love,

You mewled the newborn cries

My mother-heart  remembers

So small and helpless

Your eyes held all the universe

Alpha and Omega in One

I need no baubled tree

The splintered cross grows in my soul

One by one You take my gifts

And hang them there

Right beside Your love
